MCL VIOLATION – TOTAL COLIFORM

The Port Washington Water District (PWWD) is required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. On August 9, 2010, the PWWD collected eight (8) routine bacteriological samples from various locations in our distribution system. The following day, the PWWD was notified that two (2) samples tested positive for total coliform bacteria. Collection data showed a chlorine residual (disinfection) present at all sites, yet two (2) detections were found. more
