Port Washinton Water District

budget 2008
The Port Washington Water District Budget for 2008 has been approved by the Town of North Hempstead.
There is no increase in water rates or the current tax rate in the 2008 budget.

The 2008 budget calls for total expenses of $4,562,017 compared to $4,463,080 in 2007…an increase of 2.2%.

According to Board Chairman, Thomas J. Murray, “ The District management and Board of Commisisoners have made every effort to hold costs in line while presenting a cost effective budget, delivering an adequate supply of quality water and maintaining the high level of service our residents expect and deserve.”

“While the Tax Rate for the Port Washington Water District remains one of the lowest in the area, less than $2.00 per thousand, and one of the lowest in the area, it is important to report that fixed and mandated costs (LIPA, State Retirement Fund, etc.) now account for more than one-third of the total budget.”
