- All PWWD Water comes from 12 District wells.
- All groundwater pumped to the distribution system from the operating District wells complies with New York State Department of Health standards for public drinking water.
- Port water is stored in 2 elevated tanks of 1 million and 250,000 gallon capacities each, and 2 underground tanks of 1 million and 22 million gallons each.
- PWWD is one of the oldest water districts on Long Island, chartered in 1913.
- The District has approximately 147 miles of water mains ranging from 4" to 24" in diameter.
- The District has and maintains more than 1,250 Fire Hydrants throughout the District.
- The District serves an area of 6 square miles including Port Washington, Manorhaven, Port Washington North, Baxter Estates and parts of Flower Hill and Plandome Manor.
- Your District maintains emergency connection facilities with the Sands Point, Roslyn and Manhasset-Lakeville Water Districts.
- Your District serves an average of 9,250 customers with approximately 1.3 billion gallons of water annually.
- Every gallon of water consumed by District users is recorded by computer and billed accordingly.
- All of our water comes from underground wells. Unlike New York City, Long Island does not use reservoir water nor have a surface water system.

Meetings are every Wednesday at 8:00 AM, except the second Tuesday of each month when the board meets at 7:30 PM. All meetings are at the District Offices unless otherwise announced.
